Rothko Chapel – Vienna Events

“The Rothko Chapel…became the world’s first broadly ecumenical center, a holy place open to all religions and belonging to none. It became a center for international cultural, religious, and philosophical exchanges, for colloquia and performances. And it became a place of private prayer for individuals of all faiths”

The Rothko Chapel in Houston is both a sacred place and a work of art. In 1971, American composer Morton Feldman composed a piece inspired by the impressions of being inside. At Harry Glück’s church, recreated to match the original chapel, members of MUK and vocal ensemble Company of Music will perform the work. Either side of this performance will be two scores written by Austrian composer Klaus Lang: New Zealand Skies and La Vaca Translucida.
